Many of the World's Fastest and Most Awesome Race Cars Highlighted At Show's Feature DisplayNEW YORK, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The sights and sounds of NASCAR, Le Mans, Formula One, Indy, Stock Car, and more will come to life at the 2001 New York International Auto Show's feature display, The Victory Lap. The special exhibition will be open to the public beginning Saturday, April 13 through Sunday, April 22.
The Victory Lap will be set on an oval "race track" made from black and white carpeting complete with an artificial turf "infield." The museum-like display will feature racing props, memorabilia, huge photo blowups, and
special sound and lighting effects.
As an added attraction, visitors can experience the thrill of driving a race car in a lifelike NASCAR simulator. In addition, the exhibit will also feature the Tire Changing Challenge, a contest to see who's the fastest tire-changer in the land.
The Victory Lap will feature some of racings hottest vehicles of yesterday and today, including:
McLaren F1
Infiniti Open Wheel Indy Race Car
Dodge Viper GTSR
Ford 1964 Ford 999
Jaguar 2001 R2
Volvo 1962 P1800 SCCA Racer (Historic Series)
Mopar Sprint Car
Ford 1963 Lotus Ford
BMW M3 Racer
Audi ST Competition Car
Entrance to The Victory Lap is included with the price of Show admission($9 adults, $3 children under 12).
