COMPTON, Calif., and ATLANTA, April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Addressing more than 200 Daewoo dealers, state and local Georgia government officials and members of the press, president and CEO of Daewoo Motor America, D.J. Lee faced the issue of Daewoo's future head on when he stated, "To us, it's very clear, and ceremonies like this one today provide an insight into Daewoo's future which is bright and includes a strong, competitive presence in this (U.S.) market." The new 132,000 square foot Parts Distribution Center dedicated on April 6, not only houses parts to service over 260 Daewoo dealers in 24 states but additionally serves as Daewoo's Southeastern Regional Office and Training Center. The structure is a multipurpose, multifunctional facility designed using the latest in technology and innovation. Capable of warehousing more than $20,000,000 in inventory the PDC, when fully staffed, will employ 21 people. The Southeast Region Office and training center accounts for 29 additional Daewoo employees. "Daewoo's steady sales growth and expanding customer base influenced the company to add a new location. Daewoo and it's more than 500 dealers are committed to customer satisfaction and the foundation of that commitment is the ability to deliver the right part to the right place on time," stated Ben Rainwater, vice president of parts and service. In just less than three years Daewoo Motor America has grown from 15 dealers to well over 500 throughout the United States. Sales have exploded from a 1999 total of 30,787 units to 68,360 in 2000, finishing the second full year of business with a 122% increase. Sales in 2001 are keeping pace with growth expectations.
