C.J. Robinson announced at the 2000 Riverside Speedway
Banquet of Champions that Bob Wright would be appointed Director of
Competition. He's 39-years old and lives on Baptist Hill in Lunenburg,Vt.
with his wife Dawn and their two dogs Thumper and Maxine. The couple have
been married for nine years.
Bob is currently the shop foreman at Wes Wards Auto Repair in St. Johnsbury,
Vt. Previous to moving to Ward's, he worked at Robert's Motor Sales in
Lancaster, NH.
Wright's association with Riverside Speedway began in the latter years of
Mike Beattie's ownership of the track. Bob was on the crew of the #81 Super
Stock of Brad Salvage. He also operated the Robert's Motor Sales wrecker
for the Enduro events. Bob also drove the wrecker for the Enduro races the
first year of C.J. Robinson's ownership of Riverside Speedway.
An unfortunate auto accident resulted in Brad Salvage being confined to a
wheel chair which also ended his racing career. After that accident, Bob
Wright operated Robert's Motor Sales wrecker full time for the race track.
During one season, beside operating the wrecker, Bob Wright was also Tech
Inspector for the Riverside Strictly Stocks and Cyclone divisions. That was
when Mike Mills was the Director of Competition at the Riverside Speedway.
When Steve Poulin took over as Director of Competition, Bob became the
Infield Coordinator. His duties included; dispatching wreckers, ambulances
and the clean-up crews to various incidents on the race track. During the
2000 racing season Bob was Assistant Director of Competition which prepared
him to take over the top job for 2001.
"Hopefully, all of the experience that I've gotten over the years will help
me with the proper decisions that I need to make for the 2001 season," said
Wright.
"We will miss Steve Poulin every week at Riverside Speedway. But, I, and my
staff, would like to give a 'welcome aboard' to Bob Wright as our new
Director of Competition for the 2001 season," said track owner C.J.
Robinson.
